Route 24 Eastbound Lane Closures Summit/Millburn 9-17-14

New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced overnight lane closures in the eastbound direction on heavily traveled Route 24 will begin tonight for priority repairs to the Hobart Avenue Bridge connecting Summit, Union County and Milburn, Essex County.

The bridge, which goes over Route 24, was struck by a tractor trailer carrying construction equipment on August 26, damaging three beams. NJDOT evaluation crews assessed the structure and closed the Hobart Avenue Bridge to ensure the safety of motorists.

The Springfield Rotary Club Food Drive Starts Now!

As part of The Rotary Club of Springfield’s efforts to provide service for our community, we are asking the public to help by making non-perishable food donations. The food that is gathered will be distributed by Holy Cross Lutheran Church to needy families in our community. The Food Drive will be conducted from September 1st through October 31st of this year.

Drop boxes have been placed at locations throughout Springfield for your convenience. Please take a few minutes to help with this worthy project by contributing whatever you can.

Springfield Resident to Display at "Artworks Trenton"

Robert Zitzman, an artist and a life-long NJ resident and Springfield resident for 30 years, will have his work displayed at ARTWORKS, Trenton's Visual Art Center. The center is located on Stockton Street between Front & Markets Streets in the Mill Historic District of Trenton. Vintage Jewelry Sale Thursday through Saturday, October 16 - 18, 2014,
10 am – 4 pm at the Springfield Free Public Library, 66 Mountain Ave. in
Springfield. There will be a wide assortment of costume and fine jewelry
and watches offered for sale. All proceeds go to help the Springfield Library

The garage sale date is prior to bulk garbage pickup on September 17 and 18 (depending on where you live) so what you don’t sell you can discard if you wish.
